Real change is not a single programme — it is meals, mentors, and safety nets working together in one neighbourhood.
In the Marlowe estate we run all four causes side by side: food parcels on Saturdays, tutoring on Tuesdays and Thursdays, a monthly health camp, and a rapid fund for emergencies. Treated separately they help; together, they compound. School attendance on the estate is up by a third in two years.
“Wrenfield didn’t bring us one thing. They brought us everything, all at once.”
The secret is not complicated. The same volunteers show up, the same families are known by name, and every service points to the others. A hungry pupil gets fed and tutored. A sick parent gets care and a food parcel while they recover. Community work works when it is joined up.
